Utility GIS & Critical Infrastructure Protection

Since 1997, Sentinel USA has been providing GIS services and consulting to the utility industry, with primary focuses in “Oil and Gas”, "Electric Coopertives" and “Call Before you Dig”. Within these industries we provide geospatial and data related consulting and services to ensure that clients achieve maximum results on thier GIS investments.

With a special emphasis on "Utility Infrastructure" and "Public Safety", Sentinel USA provides organizations with administrative GIS management services, land base development, data migration and recurring data maintenance through our multi level consulting and consortium planning initiatives.

Sentinel USA enables its consortiums and clients to utilize and distribute various infrastructure and geospatial data sets in both standard and regulatory compliant formats for local, state and federal agencies. The company’s services provide integration with existing data management processes to improve the reach of information while protecting the privacy of the data.

In addition to our Electric utility GIS consulting services, Pipeline integrity data assessment and “High Consequence Area” analysis’ are among Sentinel USA ’s Oil & Gas offerings. Focusing on technology and data management techniques, we provide scalable data integrity services to ensure that utility operators have the requisite data (content and structure) to comply with regulatory requirements.  Moreover, to provide a long term plan for the integrity management processes.

HIGH CONSEQUENCE AREAS

Our data research and acquisition division collects data and migrates the information to common, open and standardized database designs. The data is used to establish a geodetic control network for the recording of utility and road infrastructure, survey and engineering designs, environmental data, sensitive sites and structures, and right of way easements.

GIS PROJECT DESIGN & MANAGEMENT

Sentinel USA's services model provides our clients a foundation for GIS design and construction of new utilities. Our vendor neutral “any to any” approach provides "plug-n-play" data regardless of the source and destination platforms. Our task is to gather, evaluate and compose data that will increase the effectiveness of whatever process we’re “fueling”.

As such, our company firmly supports the Multispeak® Initiative, Common Ground Alliance (CGA), GITA’s GECCO initiative, which promotes sharing of critical utility infrastructure data among key “disaster/response” stakeholders, and the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS), having actively participated in its development and propagation.

Sentinel USA provides organizations with a variety of GIS related services, from building GIS platforms, optimizing existing GIS applications, or custom programming. In all cases, Sentinel adheres to an “any-to-any” philosophy. By not being tied to any particular format or platform, we have the flexibility to work with and/or deliver solutions to meet our clients requirements.

Whether operating as the mapping department of a One Call Center, Utility Company or providing HCA compliance services, Sentinel has developed unique expertise in building unified seamless land base's and point of interest data sets for large areas or a given clients area of interest,

Assisting O&G clients in compliance with PHMSA’s HCA (High Consequence Area) and DIMP regulations is perhaps the most complex of Sentinel’s offerings. In short, all pipeline operators must notify PHMSA where their pipelines pass under or close by sensitive areas (population or environmental) and have stringent integrity management practices for those areas. This is a challenge for most operators. By fine tuning the process, Sentinel protects utility infrastructure and saves its clients valuable time, resources and money.
